New Delhi: The University Grants Committee (UGC) has instructed universities and higher education institutions to strictly adhere to government guidelines while installing cell phone jammer at test centers to check for improper use.
In 2016, the government allowed statutory auditors to use signal jammers (desktop mobile phone blocker) in auditoriums to prevent the use of improper means by radio frequency equipment. "You need to ensure compliance with government guidelines for human or university interference," the UGC said in a letter to the deputy prime minister and dean.
The UGC stated that the classroom jammer model EC-CRJ-6B5 has been successfully evaluated by the board of directors through laboratory tests and field trials, and recommended that the jammer model be used at a location where a base station transceiver (BTS) is located at 100 meters within.
